Hindustan Copper Limited

Introduction

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a public sector enterprise of the Government of India was incorporated on 9th November 1967. It has the distinction of being India's only vertically integrated copper producing company encompassing mining, beneficiation, smelting, refining and casting of refined copper metal.

This company sells copper cathode, copper wire bar, continuous copper rods and co-products such as - Anode Slime (which contains gold, silver etc.), Tutia (Copper Sulphate) and Sulfuric Acid. HCL's mines and plants are in five units, viz.

  • Khetri Copper Complex (KCC), Khetri Nagar, Rajasthan
  • Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP), Mananjhand, Madhya Pradesh
  • Indian Copper Complex (ICC), Ghatsila, Jharkhand
  • Taloja Copper Project (TCP), Taloja, Maharashtra
  • Gujarat Copper Project (GCP) Jhagadia, Gujarat

Indian Institute of Skill Development (IISD), Skill Council of Mining Sector (SCMS) & Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL)

HCL under its CSR initiative has designed skill development programme for unemployed youth in Mining sector in consultation with SCMS. IISD has been appointed as the training partner for HCL.

IISD has been conducting Skill development programmes for HCL under their CSR initiative since 2018, in job roles like Mine Welder, Mine Electrician, Mech / Fitter, Loader Operator, Mazdor / Helper, Assistant Support Underground mines at locations Khetri and Malanjkhand.

IISD conducts an entrance test for admitting candidates to the approved skill development programme. After completion of the training, the candidates have to undergo a third party assessment for certification by SCMS, thereafter qualified candidates are awarded skill certification, in respective job roles. IISD also provides placement support to certified candidate
